Project Details

We designed and developed AiFarming, a Canadian agri-tech startup building an AI-powered platform for urban farmers. The software helps home and community gardeners analyze soil and plant health, calculate profit and loss in real time, and sell their produce through an integrated e-commerce marketplace.

Our goal was to create a platform that makes urban farming both sustainable and profitable, bridging the gap between small growers and local buyers while encouraging environmentally conscious practices.

02

Project Problems
Despite the rise of urban farming as a response to food insecurity and climate change, small-scale farmers continue to face a lack of modern digital tools that allow them to measure profitability, optimize plant health, and access local markets. Existing agriculture software mostly targets large commercial farms, leaving urban growers without a solution to track costs, analyze performance, or sell directly to nearby buyers. This gap limits the scalability and financial sustainability of urban farming initiatives in Canadian cities.

03

Project Challenges
The primary challenge was to create a platform that could seamlessly combine AI analytics, IoT integration, and an e-commerce system while maintaining a simple, intuitive user experience. The platform needed to process real-time environmental data, calculate crop profitability, and support secure online trading — all in one interface. Balancing this technical complexity with a clean, visually engaging design required deep research, agile testing, and iterative collaboration between the design and engineering teams.

04

Project Solutions
Our solution was to develop a robust and user-friendly platform that unites every aspect of smart farming into one connected experience. AiFarming delivers real-time AI-powered crop intelligence, helping users analyze soil conditions, optimize planting decisions, and predict yield outcomes. The platform also integrates IoT devices that track temperature, humidity, and irrigation to maintain ideal growing conditions. Beyond analytics, AiFarming introduces an online marketplace where farmers can sell directly to local consumers, CSAs, and grocers, turning urban farming into a sustainable business model. To foster engagement, a built-in gamification system rewards eco-friendly practices with redeemable points, encouraging sustainable behavior among users. Together, these features create an intelligent ecosystem that makes urban farming smarter, more profitable, and environmentally conscious.

01. Discover

We began by researching the landscape of urban farming and identifying the needs of small-scale growers. Through user interviews and competitor analysis — including LiteFarm, VeggieTables, and Planta — we uncovered a clear gap for a single, intelligent system that connects sustainability, profitability, and community trading. These insights formed the foundation for AiFarming’s vision and feature set.

02. Design

With our findings in place, we crafted detailed user flows and wireframes to visualize each stage of the farming journey — from seed planting to local sales. The interface was designed for clarity and accessibility, emphasizing a calm, nature-inspired palette with modern minimalism. Every element served a purpose: intuitive dashboards, readable data visualizations, and effortless navigation across mobile and desktop views.

03. Develop

In collaboration with developers, we focused on building a scalable and responsive structure that could integrate IoT data and AI algorithms. Real-time simulations were used to test environmental monitoring, profitability tracking, and marketplace performance. The design system ensured that every feature — from analytics to trading — stayed cohesive and user-centric throughout the build.

04. Deliver

After multiple test cycles, AiFarming evolved into a complete digital ecosystem ready for market entry. We refined the final UI, optimized system speed, and prepared marketing assets for launch. The outcome is a visually clean, intelligent, and fully functional platform that bridges innovation, sustainability, and community — redefining how Canadians experience urban farming.
